Saturday in October

Wasn't Saturday fun?  From Ole Miss' big win against Bama to TCU knocking off the Sooners, the day was packed full of excitement.  It all started Thursday night with Rich Rod and his Wildcats upsetting the Pink Ducks of Oregon.  After the day ended, we had the numbers 2, 4, 6 and 8 all going down to defeat.

My favorite image form Saturday was of an Ole Miss student congratulating the QB Bo Wallace, whipping out his phone, and taking a picture with him.  As much as I dislike the SEC, you gotta admit their students are fun.  Guys show up at the games in jackets and ties and the girls are wearing dresses.  That is something you don't really see anywhere else.  (The Ivy League does not count.)

We also had the longest game in postseason history as the Giants outlasted the Nats in 18.  I thought the Nats had it sewn up in the ninth but Zimmerman got squeezed on a few pitches and Storen had another postseason moment.  I kept waiting for Belt to be the hero but was in bed listening to the game when he homered.

Then we had the sweeps by the Orioles and the Royals.  The Orioles sweep was not a surprise to me as the Tigers had a tough season.  The Angels, however, was a bit of a shocker.  They got the pitching on the first two games but the timely hits were just not there.  Game three was a different story as the Halos trotted out 8 pitchers in the 8-3 loss.  I thought that Sciosia had a quick hook with Wilson but it was an elimination game.

Two more games today as the Nats look to stay alive and the Dodgers and Cardinals clash in St. Loo.

On a side note, after getting sick of my appearance and have started a diet and workout program.  I took the weekend to consume the things I can't now and we start the countdown at 251.  I will attempt to post weekly progress.

It's Baaaaaack.

After a long, despicable winter, baseball is finally back.  Sure we've had the Opening games in Australia and San Diego, but the today is the true Opening Day.  Tradition has been changed.  No longer do the Reds open things up.  As a matter of fact, they are not even the first game today.  We finally have a nice day.  The sun is shining, the birds are singing, and the beer is cold.  Play Ball!!

Back again

We are a few weeks from the start of the new baseball season.  Many changes in the off season and it should be exciting to see how it all pans out.  I am looking out of the back window as the snow slowly starts to  melt and the temperature rises.  It has been a long, strange winter.  We have had snow and bitter cold but things are starting to look up.  We are 25 days away from the official start of the season and it can't come soon enough.
